Manual Mobile Crown High Masts NEOFAR

The manual mobile crown high masts NEOFAR represent an excellent solution for lighting roundabouts, yards, or green areas that do not require a large number of floodlights.

Shape and Dimensions: The masts have a truncated conical shape with a polygonal cross-section and are made of S355JR steel sheets (in compliance with UNI EN 10025) through press-bending and subsequent longitudinal welding of trapezoidal-shaped sheets. They consist of multiple sections joined using the slip-on-joint method.

Material: The high masts are constructed from S355JR steel (in compliance with UNI EN 10025).

Height: The length of the pole varies depending on the application and the lighting requirements of the area, with standard heights ranging from 16 to 20 meters.

Ground Mounting: The masts are directly embedded in a concrete foundation base, ensuring stability and safety.

Safety and Functionality: The manual mobile guided crown system allows for maintenance in absolute safety, thanks also to NCM’s exclusive parachute brake, which engages in the event of cable slackening. The top of the mast is protected by a fiberglass dome, which shields the mechanical and electrical components.

Finish: The masts are supplied with a protective hot-dip galvanized coating, providing resistance to weather conditions. Upon request, a paint finish is available to enhance longevity and visual appearance.

Lighting Compatibility: The high masts are designed to accommodate various types of lighting devices, including floodlights and other accessories. They can also integrate additional features such as photocells for automatic lighting control or mounts for security cameras.

Urban Design: The polygonal structure and the variety of platforms offer greater design flexibility, allowing the masts to be more easily integrated into the surrounding environment and tailored to meet the specific needs of public lighting or large area lighting.

MANUAL MOBILE HIGH MAST, BURIED model TN200

1. METAL STRUCTURES

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this technical specification (CT) is to provide for the supply of a certain number of 20 m high metal light towers to be installed by direct embedding into the foundation base.

The structures will be located at ___________

Nominal service life of the work (NTC 2018 Tab. 2.4.I): 50 anni

Usage class (NTC 2018 § 2.4.2):                                            II

Execution class (UNI EN 1090-2):                                        EXC2

1.2 Performance

The Contractor must provide the following services:

  • Supply of materials (profiles, sheets…)
  • Prefabrication in the workshop
  • Storage in the workshop
  • Surface protective treatments (hot-dip galvanizing)
  • Material inspection documents
  • CE marking of structural components
  • Transport to the construction site
  • Workshop van with equipment for assembly
  • Ground assembly of the high mast and assistance with raising using a crane
  • Mechanical assembly of projectors and accessories as per the executive project
  • Issuance of a verbal statement upon completion of the work

1.3 Description of the Supply

The supply includes the following works:

The TN200 model manual mobile mast, produced by N.C.M. Srl, is designed to support __ projectors type ________ arranged 360° on the crown, and consists of the following elements:

MAST

Tapered with a polygonal cross-section, made of S355 JR cold-pressed steel sheet with longitudinal welding. The welding process complies with UNI EN ISO 15614-1.

The mast consists of two sections that are joined on-site using a slip-on joint.

The base section houses the winch, accessible through a vandal-proof door.

The base section is also designed for direct insertion into the foundation plinth and is equipped with a cable entry hole and grounding plate.

MANUAL MOBILE SYSTEM

Mast head: Located at the top, it houses the pulley for the cable, the projector crown hook, centering pins to prevent rotation, and the power connector that keeps the electrical cables fixed inside the mast.

  • Mobile crown: Made of steel, circular in shape, supporting the lighting fixtures and related electrical equipment, and fixed to the carriage.
  • Carriage: Steel, it runs along the guide fixed to the mast using rollers and hooks onto the mast head with two steel plates that support the crown in operation.
  • Guide: Made of light alloy, fixed along the entire mast length, enabling the smooth movement of the carriage.
  • Parachute brake: This exclusive braking system uses three stainless steel elements and is activated in case of cable slackening during the carriage’s upward or downward movements.
  • Traction cable: High-strength galvanized steel, attached at one end to the carriage and at the other to the drum located at the mast base.
  • Drive system: The carriage is moved using a manual winch with an automatic friction brake. The operation is performed using a removable crank that includes a safety stand, allowing the operator to work from a safe distance.
  • Electrical accessories: The power line for the projectors is fixed inside the mast and can be disconnected via a safety switch with a fuse. The line starts from an interlocked socket in the winch compartment and terminates at the top of the mast at the female socket.
  • Protective dome: A fiberglass semi-spherical dome coated with a gray gelcoat layer is placed on top to protect the electrical and mechanical components.

FINISH
The entire steel structure is hot-dip galvanized, conforming to UNI EN ISO 1461.

1.4 Handling and Storage
The steel structures must be packaged, handled, and transported carefully to avoid permanent deformations and surface damage. Special attention should be given to reinforcing free ends and protecting machined surfaces.

1.5 Welding
The contractor must ensure welding quality as defined by UNI EN ISO 3834, following the execution class of the structures in accordance with NTC2018 Table 8.1, without falling below the safety standards outlined in Table 11.3.XI of NTC2018.

For execution classes EXC2, EXC3, and EXC4, welding activities must be coordinated by qualified Welding Coordinators in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14731.

1.5.1 Welder Qualification
All welders must be certified according to UNI EN ISO 9606-1, and operators according to UNI EN 14732.

1.6 Fabrication Tolerances
Fabrication tolerances are specified in the project drawings.

1.7 Assembly
The contractor must organize the construction site in a way that satisfies the technical requirements to ensure safe work conditions by addressing the following points:

  • Use of lifting equipment
  • Accessibility and site conditions
  • Ground stability
  • Knowledge of underground utilities, suspended cables, etc.
  • Adjacent structures affecting the assembly process
  • Cooperation procedures with other contractors on-site
  • Utility availability
  • Assembly activities must be approved by the Construction Manager.
  • Refer to UNI EN 1090-2 §11.1 for assembly tolerances.

1.8 Protective Treatments
